December Scrap Jacked.

The Scrap Jacked for December is up and once again these talented ladies have blown me away! There is something for everyone, no matter what your own style is. My LO is another photo from our recent holiday. No trip to San Francisco would be complete without a visit to the famous Lombard st, the crookedest street in the world.

Global Scrappers

Woohoo! I found my missing mojo! This LO is for a challenge over at Global Scrappers. I love a sketch challenge to get a LO done quickly, I can over think it all sometimes.

I am keeping my new years resolution too, to be in more of the photos that I take. I have even scrapped a few of them.

My poor sewing machine has been very neglected this year but I have been sewing up a storm recently. A few friends and I have started up a regular sewing morning (only had two so far) with the hope that we will inspire each other to get creative and so far it has worked. I have had a pile of op shop and hand me down clothes waiting to be made into something new so that is where I started. BUT I forgot to take the before photos DOH! So here are the afters.
First up was a quick alteration to a size 10ish kids singlet top into a toddlers dress.

Next is cute little skirt made from a pillow case. I love that it had a different fabric on each side so that I could make it reversible and the cute yellow trim was already there too.
This purple dress was made from an off cut of fabric that I picked up from Resource Rescue for next to nothing.

A nightie using a printed panel that I also got from Resource Rescue.

This little red number was made from a ladies shirt.

And a pink knit tunic top/dress from a ladies top, I think I'll whip up a pair of stripey legging to go with this.

As well as satisfying my urge to create I have  recycled 6 items and I have my niece's Christmas present all sorted. All for less that $8, gotta love that.

Long time no see

No I haven't dropped off the face of the earth lol I have however been traveling to the other side of it. We return from a three week trip to the US just last week and boy did we fit a lot of stuff into that time, I need another holiday to recover from it lol!
I have no excuse now for not scrapping, I think I took a million and one photos. Thank god for digital cameras. I will need to make a few dates with my scrappy girlfriends really soon.

Until I do scrap though I thought I would share a few of my fav moments from the trip. We visited LA, Disneyland (love love loved it!) legoland (amazing) las Vegas (eye opening lol) the Grand Canyon (increrable) and San Francisco (beautiful city).

LA Farmers Market

Legoland of course

Disneyland

Tha Grand Canyon

Las Vegas

San Francisco

....and there are so many more.....now I just need to find my scrappy desk again so that I can get scrapping.

How do you scrap when you have heaps of pics? Do you do whole albums of a trip? Do you stick to one style for the entire album or do you do something completely different for each LO? I'd love to see what you have done, please add a link in the comments if you would like to share.

Bye for now
Lisa

Something other that the usual scrapping today...

Over the last couple of weeks I have made several visits to my new favourite place..... Resource Rescue Inc.  Apart from the fact that they have so much to offer for us crafty types, the reason I love this place is that it is a not for profit organization that takes industrial waste products that would otherwise be destined for landfill and makes it all available for anyone to purchase.
I think I have shown A LOT of self control so far and haven't bought too much, but here a a couple of things I have picked up.

Thick cardboard, I also pick some up in black

timber in all sorts of shapes and sizes
Fabric, these came in a bag full of samples but they also have rolls of fabric.

So far the kids have been making model houses and furniture to fill them.

I have been making fabric flower brooches (sorry, they haven't photographed very well, they look much better IRL)

Here we have hessian bags, leather pieces, linen fabric, jars, buttons, double sided tape and cardboard tubes, small ones in this case but they also have huge ones.

I found everything to make this practical and pretty jewellery board including the frame which a painted and distressed, the foam, the backing board and the fabric. The pins came from my scrapping stash. All up this would have cost me no more that $4 max.

Eeek, after looking back on this post it doesn't look like i have shown restraint at all lol but believe me, I have! You can check out their website for a virtual tour and you will see just what I mean. It is sad that I love this place so much???? I can't wait to take the kids with me next time, they will be beside themselves with excitement. The apple doesn't fall too far from the tree eh?

August already???

This year is flying by so fast! It is time again for a new challenge over at Scrap Jacked and there are some wonderful prizes to be won. I am constantly inspired by the talented ladies on the DT.
For my contribution this month I have gone back in time to a photo taken of me with my Dad at my 5th birthday party.  I could have edited the photo and fixed the colour but the orange hue combined with the outfits we were wearing really remind me of the era it was taken. I have been dusting off my stamps and also playing with my new distressing inks recently and have stamped and distressed all the papers and chipboard for this LO.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you will join in this months challenge.

July Scrap Jacked

It is that time again.... the July Scrap Jacked challenge it up and waiting to inspire you!
This month we have three wonderful prizes up for grabs, so come on over and check it out.

I have actually been doing some sewing for the first time in ages so I took advantage of my machine being set up to do some stitching on my LO. I used to do this all the time but then my scrapping took over my sewing room and the sewing machine was banished to the cupboard and I was too lazy to get it out every time I wanted a row of stitching.
Pop back later and I'll have some pics of the sewing projects I am working on, mostly UFOs and
refashions.

I have to give credit to Tiff over at Scrap Therapy for this clever idea of printing onto the masking tape, I love this technique.

So who will you jack this month???

Using up those scraps

I have a heap of LO on the go at the moment but I can't seem to finish them off for one reason or another, so I thought I would show you a few cards that I made on my craft weekend last month. I have been trying to make an effort to use up lots of my scraps. I don't throw much away so cards are perfect for this.

There were a couple of very clever card makers there whose cards make mine look so simple. Hopefully they will be there again next year and I can try a few of them for myself.
If all goes to plan I should be able to share some LO's really soon.

Thanks
Lisa
