Christmas is coming....
Just a quick post today to share some pics of our advent calender for this year. I had planned something different but I haven't received my order of bits and pieces so Darcey and I labeled these sweet little boxes that I picked up from Resource Rescue for next to nothing. I still need to fill most of them but I am trying to think of some ideas other than lollies or toys, such as a night at the movies or going to choose our Christmas tree (and plenty of inexpensive bits too)
I have been busy sewing too but I cant share yet as most of it is for christmas presents. I have been slowely working through my stash and up-cycling my op-shop finds and have managed to resist the urge to buy any new fabrics ages :) Now I'll just have to remember to take pics before I give them all away!

Sept scrapjacked
I'm baaaaaack! I have been MIA I know and I have a few things to share :)
Firstly some exciting news from Scrapjacked. Our wonderful Bec Miller has handed over the reins to the talented Naomi Cox. Thank you Bec for your inspiration and for doing such a great job running the site. Naomi has already been busy putting her own stamp on things so come on over and check out the new look Scrapjacked and play along to win some great prizes. There are some of the same DT still around as well as some new faces.
This month we are taking of inspiration from this colorful layout by Natalie May.
I love all of the brightly coloured flowers that Natalie has used and took my cue from them when I scrapped my young niece. I also liked using one small photo.
Naomi also been busy busy busy setting up a card challenge to run along side scrapjacked so make sure to pop in and look around.
On the sewing front I have been doing some for refashions from my op shop finds, I'll post some pics very soon. I have to say though, that I have done more shopping than sewing in the last little while and have aquired quite a stockpile, oops. I can't resist a bargin. My poor office/scrap room/sewing room is a total mess at the moment and it is difficult to be inspired if you have to clean up before you can create :(
I am counting the days until next month when I am heading of for a weekend of crafting, chatting and laughter next with girlfriends, I can't wait!
Thanks for stopping in.

June Scrapjacked....
If you haven't already entered your layouts for Scrap Jacked , you still have time. My layout for this month?
This was one of the many layouts I managed to get done on my crafty weekend away last month, it was so much fun! Great company, great food (that we didn't have to cook or clean up after) lots of laughs and chatter and of course lots of scrapping and other crafty inspiration. I am already counting down to next years.
Unfortunately my supplies have been completely neglected since then, having been dumped unceremoniously in the office and quickly buried beneath the boring but necessary paperwork that needs filing :( I can't wait to see what you do.

Where in earth has this month, this year, gone??? The new Scrapjacked challenge has been up for a while now, have any of you completed a LO yet? Here is my LO for the month, of the most recent addition to our family, my niece Tanika.
I haven't had too much time for scrapping lately but I have made a start on an album about our trip to the US last year using Destinations by Simple Stories. My biggest challenge has been choosing which photos to use. Thanks to the age of digital photography I managed to amass thousands of photos over the three week period. I am doing an album roughly 15cm x 20mm which I will put together with my new toy, a Zutter binder that I picked up for $45 on sale. I've wanted one of these for ages but the price had always put me off but now it is all mine :)
So what have I been doing with my time you ask, well I have been doing a bit of sewing with some great fabrics that I picked up at resource rescue. Here is a sneak peek.

Oops I did it again.....
I am back with some more refashions! I have been scrapping too, I just need to add a some finishing touches and take the photos for you so watch this space. My oops is that I have once again forgotten to take the before photos of my sewing escapades, but I have plenty of afters for you. My gorgeous niece was the recipient of these outfits once again. My own girls are asking me when I am going to sew for them again.
This dress and skirt started it's life as a ladies shirt, great fabric for kids I thought but way to busy on a ladies shirt for my liking. Now it looks like this.......
This next one was actually made from scratch using fabric from my stash that I am trying to work my way through. I am sure that many of you have a bottomless pile of fabrics that have been collected over many years. It is the same basic style as a pillowcase dress.
and this one was an actual pillow case with the addition of a fabric flower....

and this......
and last but not least, this little number made out of scraps, I love the combination of red and pink. I have used the same technique as with the above skirt but with a few extra rows of vertical stitching. I saw this on a girls dress with a $40 price tag and, as any dedicated crafter would, I said to myself "I could make that!"
All up I spent under $8 for everything you see here.
Thank you to my little model. I have to say though that I had forgotten how difficult it can be to photograph a two year old! I took over 100 photos to get these few lol.
Thanks for dropping by, hope to see you here again soon.

February Scrapjacked
It's that time again, the new challenge is up over at Scrap Jacked. There are some fantastic prizes up for grabs from our wonderfully generous sponsors so come on over and be inspired by our clever design team.
My LO is of our recent trip to Disneyland and the iconic spinning teacups. Every time I look at this photo I want to go back and do it all again! DH has talked about taking the kids for years, but it wasn't on the top of my travel wish list, however after visiting with my family I have to say that I am smitten. It truly is a magical place.

From shapeless to stylish.
I have had the sewing machine out again this week and have been finishing up little bits and pieces, mostly just minor adjustments to the kids clothes. I have been busy refashioning a few things but would you believe it, I forgot to take photos before giving them to my nieces DOH!!! I will get them to model them all for me in a few days. One thing I did photograph was this number. It started life as a shapeless grandma top that I picked up $1 but I thought that the geometric pattern had something going for it.
After removing the sleeves, leaving the neckline intact, and taking it in a little my girls are fighting over who gets to keep this funky little dress. I just sort of made this one up as I went along but it turned out so well that I will definitely be making some more.
So do any of you out there reading this like to re-invent clothing? I am always looking for inspiration so please feel free to leave a link to your own blogs in my comments, I'd love to see what you do.

I am behind schedule I know, but we have been enjoying the school holidays. We had some time away at the lake with the girls swimming and skiing the days away and would you believe, a trip to Mt Bulla to see snow at this time of year????
We had fun catching up with family and had friends up for a day of skiing which got off to a terrible start with the boat not starting and the gusting wind and the rain!!! but thankfully everyone stuck it out and we were rewarded with the afternoon sun. I'll be back soon to share some pics.
And now for some scrapping...... If you haven't already checked out Scrap Jacked for this month inspiration then do it now!
I have had these Kaisercraft papers in my stash for a little while and they seemed perfect for this LO. This is Darcey looking right at home on the stage at the Hollywood Bowl on our whirlwind tour of LA, and something tells me that it won't be her last time in the spotlight. Unfortunately when we were there the season had only just finished so we weren't able to see a show but it was great to see none the less. Our tour guide was wonderfully entertaining and shared a wealth of knowledge as he pointed out one landmark after another.
